Childcare Center History
1980 After 18 months of planning, Trinity Lutheran Church
continued its ministry of caring for young children by opening a
Baby-sitting Center two days a week. There were many requests
throughout the year from the community to care for children of working
parents.1981 Trinity opened its TLC Child Care Center August 31, 1981 with 5 children enrolled. TLC specialized in quality care of Infants and Toddlers, although children 6 years of age and under were accepted in the program. 1982 Enrollment increased rapidly and TLC was given approval to expand to another room. This created more space so children on our growing waiting list could be accommodated. 1983 TLC felt the need of the community in regard to “Latch Key Kids." A summer program for these children began. 1984 Another expansion occurred giving us the opportunity to divide into grouping of children. We extended our “Latch Key” summer program to a full-time School Age Child Care Program. 1985 TLC Child Care Center became licensed by the State of Pennsylvania. In September, we were given the approval to use additional space for our School Age program. 1986 Eighty five children are currently enrolled at our center, all receiving tender loving care! 1987 In June our SACC program reduced the school grade of the children attending in order to continue giving quality care in grades Kindergarten through 3rd. 1988-1997 At each annual state inspection, TLC’s Certificate of Compliance was awarded with 100% rating. At the 1995 inspection, space for 8 children was added for Older School Age Care, grades 4 to 6, due to the increasing number of parents requesting Older School Age Care. DPW License was increased to 126 children in May 1995. 1998 School Age Child Care has increased to 5th and 6th grades. 2000 One hundred and one children are currently enrolled at our Center, all still receiving tender loving care! |
